We previously published a post discussing the problems with genetic modification and how it is threatening the future of biodiversity. Many of the patents for genetic modification are held by chemical giant Monsanto, including a patent for plants that are Round-Up resistant (and of course, Round-Up, an extremely toxic herbicide which we should be banning, not using more, is manufactured by Monsanto). Round-Up is the world's best-selling herbicide- a truly scary thought.
The French media recently aired a revealing documentary called "The World According to Monsanto", revealing the callous disregard for the health and well-being of both people and the environments we live in, and a corporate policy that is completely and recklessly profit-driven. It is not likely to be aired in America anytime soon (yes, Monsanto is THAT powerful), but luckily for us, the Internet has made the spread the information these days somewhat independent of our biased media.
You can watch the documentary here. It is a long one (1 hour and 49 minutes), but it will probably be the best two hours you've spent in a long time. Monsanto's chemicals have pervaded all corners of the globe and are poisoning our bodies, our waters, and our land at an alarming rate. If you have never heard of the Monsanto controversy, PLEASE watch this documentary. The more we know, the more we can do to help bring healthy agriculture back to our farmers. All I can say is ,"Shame on Monsanto!"
